The Selmer Series III has been superseded by the new SUPREME
Probably the World’s most popular professional saxophone, made in the most famous saxophone factory.
Special factory order only, usually about 6 months wait.
Description
The SERIES III saxophone goes on writing the story of the Selmer Sound: free and centered, the instrument is wonderful to play. It responds to the slightest breath or tongue modulation so that you can really express your personality. Some new features such as the double C# mechanism help create stable overall tuning and a well-balanced high register.
A little less reserved than the Super Action 80 Series II with a more sophisticated keying mechanism and improved intonation make the Series III a popular choice for classical players and those looking for a slightly funkier response.
This latest Jubilee model features a redesigned bell to bow brace & octave key, and some beautiful delicate floral engraving that wraps around the bell and incorporates the Henri Selmer signature.
To minimise cleaning, lacquered saxes are sprayed with a thin layer of lacquer which slightly dampens the resonance of the metal. In contrast, unlacquered gold plated saxes have an additional layer of precious metal providing extra resonance…..but it is harder to keep them clean. Is it worth the extra effort? Yes – for all that extra resonance, power & projection!

Review
A real pleasure to play. It feels light and compact and produces a very warm and smooth tone. Playing is expressive and solid in all registers. A real workhorse, extremely versatile and free blowing, able to cope with any musical situation. Jim (Sax.co.uk)
