Retro Revival has re-created the infamous Double Ring Otto Link with painstaking accuracy
Back in the 50âs this classic gem of a piece had only a short production run and was used by many greats, including Eddie Lockjaw Davis, Johnny Griffin, Dexter Gordon, Michael Brecker, and many others. Using the finest examples of original pieces and combining them with modern CAD technology/CNC milling Retro Revival has made these classic pieces available to everyone once again!Â
The Super D Florida has a slightly higher baffle profile (in comparison to its New York cousin) and as a result, will offer a bit more âzingâ in the sound. Rhodium-plated and finished in every respect to mimic the original Link design, from the bite plate through to the ridge on the top, this mouthpiece plays almost precisely the same as a pristine and quality example of a Double Ring that it was based on. Typically, you might pay over ÂŁ1000 for one of these originals when they rarely come up on eBay. Now you have the opportunity to buy one for half the price!Â
Joel Peskin, founder of Retro Revival mouthpieces, states on his website: âIt is our intention to earn your trust by offering the real deal. No hype, exaggerated claims and clichĂŠ sales gimmickry. Our intended goal is to offer affordable vintage replica mouthpieces that we would actually use and love to play! To our highest standards, we are committed to play testing every mouthpiece, and with great pride, we are confident that sax players from every age and level of experience will feel and hear the special qualities of our âSuper Dâ Tenor, the âNew Yorkerâ Alto, and other classic Retro Revival replicas soon to come.âÂ

Reviews
“Please check my review for the NY version of the Super D as this Florida model captures all the same qualities, but it has the subtle variation of a slightly higher baffle. With this comes the feeling of being able to push into a more contemporary direction, without sacrificing any of the wonderful core and integrity of tone that Joel and his team have created. I like the idea that both Super D models are broadly similar and for the most part contain the same flexibility to allow you to play in whatever style suits you. The Florida just sits a bit right of center, whereas the New York sits firmly in the middle!” – Jim Cheek (Sax.co.uk)Â
