A relative of the Java reed family, the Java “Red Cut” is the first file cut Vandoren jazz reed. This is when the reed goes through an additional cutting process to remove material from the reeds shoulders. Removing this material allows the reed to vibrate a bit more freely and gives it a quicker response.

The Java Red offers a full, rich, and centered sound, with a precise attack and excellent projection. This makes them the ideal reed for players performing in louder ensembles who need to cut through. Or as good all round reeds for players who do a bit of everything!
