A perfect sax for student players looking to step up
This silver-plated SR is designed and set up in the UK, and manufactured in Trevor James’ own overseas factories making it an intermediate sax that’s extraordinarily good value for money.Â
Description
Launched in January 2011, the Trevor James ‘SR’ range has been developed in close cooperation with sax players around the World including players such as Andy Sheppard. Using the hand-built professional Signature Custom models as the template, the SR instruments have taken on many of the mechanism and crook features that were previously only available to professional players. The results are very free-blowing saxophones with rich tonal characteristics.
The brass body is left unlacquered and plated with beautiful bright silver plating. The lack of lacquer does mean occasional cleaning with a silver cloth is required to maintain the finish. However, the added layer of resonant precious metal gives more projection and a wonderful extra dimension to the sound.

Review
If you’re after value for money, look no further than the Trevor James SR; a stalwart choice in our intermediate range boasting a professional sound.Â
There is a clear stability to the sound which is matched by the build and ergonomics, and provides an evenness across the range which makes playing in tune feel effortless. High notes pop out easily and there is a fat warmth to the low notes that isn’t often found on horns in this price range. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable playing experience!” – Harry – SAXÂ
