STAFF REVIEW
On first examination this didn’t seem significantly different from the standard Meyer design but as soon as I started playing it immediately offered something noticeably new. There’s a warmth here that set it apart- a huskiness that made me think this piece was combining the best features of a Link Tone Edge and a standard Meyer. The easy responsiveness was all present and correct, together with the ringing projection if pushed but the NY can be pulled further back- there’s more going on at the darker end of the ‘piece’s spectrum. Particularly in lower register there’s a more textured tone, simply more to ‘get your teeth into’ sound wise but still with a big sound. For a versatile jazz piece this really seems to tick all the boxes- easy- and enjoyable- to play, offering depth but not at the expense of clarity. – Jim – Sax.co.uk
